Field of Application
Semi-oil (linseed oil based) primer for wood, non-alkaline renders/plasters and stucco.Material Properties
- Excellent penetration to the substrate.
- Good substrate consolidation (strengthening effect).
- Promotes adhesion of subsequently applied coats of linseed oil paint (bonding bridge).
Material Base / Vehicle
Linseed oil, solvent (free of aromatic hydrocarbons)Packaging/Package Size
1 litre, 2.5 litres, 10 litresColours
Colourless
Storage
Keep in a cool place, in tightly closed container.Density
Approx. 0.84 g/cm³Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be absorbent, sound/stable, dry, clean, and free from all substances that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, section 3.Substrate Preparation
Uncoated WoodNew wooden parts:
Sand the surface in fibre direction, clean thoroughly, remove seeping wood contents, e.g. wood resin/rosin and resin/pitch pockets.
Weathered Wood:
Sand/grind off/smooth down to obtain a stable substrate or use scraper and clean thoroughly the well prepared surface. Max. permissible moisture content in dimensionally stable wood: 13 %; in limited stable wood and parts of dimensionally unstable wood: 15 %.
Non-Alkaline Renders/Plasters and Stucco:
Carefully clean the surface and remove dust. Remove all layers/coatings of low adherence.
Repair defects with mortar/stucco (plaster of Paris) of the same type and allow to fully dry.
Method of Application
Application:Apply Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil) liberally in fibre direction, then spread well without delay in order to avoid excess product on the surface.
Surface Coating System
Limited Stable Wood and Dimensionally Unstable Wooden Parts:Impregnation:
Oak wood, exterior and interior: Apply Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil)
Conifer wood, interior: Apply Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil)
Conifer wood, exterior: Apply Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund (wood impregnation primer)
Priming Coat: Apply Histolith® Leinölfarbe (linseed oil paint)
Intermediate Coat: Apply Histolith® Leinölfarbe (linseed oil paint)
Finishing Coat: Apply Histolith® Leinölfarbe (linseed oil paint)
Non-Alkaline Plasters and Stucco in Interiors:
Priming Coat: Apply Histolith® Halböl (semi-oil)
Coating: Apply Histolith® Emulsionsfarbe (emulsion paint)
Consumption
Approx. 100 - 150 ml per coat, depending on the substrate's absorbency. On highly absorbent substrates correspondingly more. Determine the exact amount of material required by coating a test area on site.Application Conditions
Lower Temperature Limit for Application and Drying:+10 °C for product, substrate and ambient air.
Drying/Drying Time
At +20 °C and 65 % relative humidity the product is recoatable after 24 hours, at the earliest.Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with white spirit. Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)
Keep out of reach of children. Do not breathe vapours/ spray. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Avoid release to the environment. Use personal protective equipment as required. IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.Safety data sheet available for professional user on request.
Cloths and wipes soaked with the product are subject to risk of self-ignition (due to the content of linseed oil). They should therefore always be kept in tightly closed metal containers or outspread in the open air in order to dry.
Disposal
Materials and all related packaging must be disposed of in a safe way in accordance with the full requirements of the local authorities. Particular attention should be made to removing wastage from site in compliance with standard construction site procedures. In Germany: Only completely empty clean containers should be handed in for recycling. Dispose containers with residues of liquid product via waste collection point accepting old paints and enamels. Dispose dried/hardened product residues as construction site/demolition/municipal or domestic waste.
